RYANS BYERLY

In a year where we see a relatively small field, Nick Ryan’s team looks to dominate with 2 out of 9 runners in the Byerly Handicap being products of the stable.

Red Aces a large, scopey colt by Dundeel looks the headline act, stepping up in trip from the 1300 he saw on debut. Although the 1300 to the 1800m looks like a massive jump, the colt did get caught wide and have to cover a lot of ground to run a strong 3rd on debut.

Joining Red Aces is Suntora – a filly who has just been screaming for further. This filly by Toronado is unplaced in her two career starts but sees the winkers on and her first time stepping out over the 1800m.

The stable is also presenting Big Me for his Australian debut in the VRC Member Janet Kolotelo Plate held over the 1000m. This lightly raced gelding had just two starts in Hong Kong, winning on debut, before sustaining a tendon injury and making his return to Aussie soil. Having not raced since October 2022 he could make for an interesting watch.
