It’s that time of the year again. We’re edging closer to Super Bowl 59, and it’s safe to say all of the girlfriends of the world are sharing my experience in being shafted for Redzone until Feb 10. With six teams being eliminated over the wild card round, we saw four more join them out of contention with the Divisional round. Racing X’s Bella King is here to debrief you on what’s to come as we head towards the Conference Championships.
In the divisional round, we lost #1 seeds as the Lions went down to the Commanders, whereas on the other side of the bracket, the top-seeded KC Chiefs secured their seat to a seventh consecutive AFC Championship with their sights set on a third Super Bowl win on the trot. The Chiefs and Bills are meeting for their fourth AFC playoff game, with the Bills hoping they can turn the tables on KC, who have won all three of their last matchups.
GAME PREVIEW:
The last time KC & Buffalo met, the Bills put an end to the Chiefs winning streak in week 11 with Josh Allen responsible for 262 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception, plus 55 rushing yards and a rushing TD in the win. Between Allen and James Cook, the Bills have developed a wrecking ball in offence, but KC is new to containing Cook last game and will again. Since their last clash, the Bills have taken a page out of KC’s book in terms of spreading the ball around and will likely rely on spreading the ball through shorter passes, making them harder to cover by KC’s defence.
Buffalo is yet to defeat the Mahomes-led Chiefs team in the postseason. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to seven straight AFC Championship games, and the star QB is looking to make his fifth Super Bowl appearance. When you look at them as a whole, KC has a perfectly well-rounded team. Take their divisional win against the Texans as an example. Mahomes only passed for 177 yards, and as a team they only rushed for 50 yards, as well as winning defensive and red zone battles. Travis Kelce maintained his position as MVP playoff player, dominating with seven catches for 117 and a TD on 8 targets. From Mahomes and Kelce to coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs always find a way to lift.
PREDICTION:
As a whole, the Chiefs look the most well-rounded. Add that to a homefield advantage, plus having handled the pressure a multitude of times, they look like they will remain top seed for Super Bowl contention.
