They say that money talks, but today the money walked straight onto the tracks for the first day of the season and looked like Connor McGregor walking into the ring.
Kicking off the day, we had Kirribilli enter the ring to win on debut for the Moody-Coleman yard. Featured earlier this week in our “Cash Money” segment, it was purchased for $1M by Moods himself, in ownership with Fairway Thoroughbreds and Pete Cunningham. After being scratched numerous times, the team must have been relieved to see her kick away to claim the win at the last second!
Up the coast, we saw Dawn Service give his opponents an absolute galloping lesson in the first at Hawkesbury. This Justify colt out of Supermare Sunlight was purchased by trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for a cool $1.4 million.
The high-rollers just kept on winning, with Visual taking notes from her peers to win on debut also. Now we can only speculate on how much Visual would be worth, but when your father is the equine equivalent to a Maserati and your mother is a multiple Group 1 winner herself, it’s safe to say she outperformed the weight of expectation.
