MIDWEEK BLUEBLOODS: SANDOWN PREVIEW

Our midweek Sandown card gives us plenty of action this week, particularly in the way of some contenders who have big shoes to fill.

In the first race, Miss Alexis goes third up for the campaign and should suit the Sandown Hillside track. Running in the same colours as her Caulfield Cup-winning mother Jameka, and with sire Dundeel’s form, securing four of his six Group 1 wins over the 2000-2400 m, it’s safe to assume she’s a filly who will be wanting further as she matures.

As we move on to race two, $1.4m filly Conscience makes her highly anticipated debut for the Moody-Coleman team. When John Camelleri and Tony Fung Investments teamed up to drop a pretty penny on this filly, there was plenty of hope that she may replicate the precocity of her talented half-brother Espionage, who won the Group 3 Breeders Plate on debut, followed by the Group 3 Kindergarten in his following preparation. With a sweet draw of Barrier 4 and regular stable jockey Blake Shinn aboard, all eyes will be on this little lady.

Taking on Conscience in the second race is blueblooded filly Sisstainable, returning first up after a lengthy spell. Out of Group 3 winning mare Sisstar, the half to legend of the turf Sunlight, and by super-sire I Am Invincible, this filly is destined to be a top performer. She was far from disappointing in her only start, chasing home steadily to finish 2½ lengths off them in the Listed Maribyrnong Stakes even after the jockey dropped the whip, and with a jumpout win following, she should be fit and firing heading into this.
