CASH MONEY: MAGIC MILLIONS

Although Magic Millions headlines usually attract their namesake highlights, we saw a huge return on investment for the owners of Amosu on Saturday. The local two-year-old made his owner’s $60,000 investment 5x over when she clinched the win in the Magic Millions The Debut Plate in a last-stride win. As always, racing retains its reputation as the ultimate leveller.

In other huge cash money news, this year’s edition of the Magic Millions January Yearling Sale is once again a record-breaking one, smashing its own record twice over. On day three, everyone’s jaws were on the floor as Ciaron Maher & Phil Cunningham dropped a massive $2.7m for the son of Snitzel out of Humma Humma. But it wasn’t long before the record was set ablaze once again when Coolmore sold the daughter of first-season sire Home Affairs out of super-mare Sunlight for a whopping $3.2m. Her speedy pedigree will see her head over to Japan, and it’s safe to say we will all be eagerly awaiting her raceday debut!
