AFL SEASON PREVIEW: PART 1

2025 AFL SEASON PREVIEW – SNAKES AND LADDERS

The 2024 AFL season delivered some predictable ladder finishers, namely Gold Coast and West Coast in the bottom 8 and Sydney and Brisbane at the pointy end.

So, who has made the necessary changes in the off-season to send themselves north and which teams are on the slippery slope.

ON THE RISE

COLLINGWOOD

Houston……… We have solved the problem!

The Pies forward line will always be a topic of conversation, and they bucked the trend in 2023, winning a premiership without a superstar forward, but last years slide was an anomaly, and the recruitment of Dan Houston is a stroke of genius.

Houston goes in the low 80% for kicking efficiency, has huge metres gained numbers, elite pressure metrics, and rarely loses a one-on-one contest. He is pure A Grade material and will send the Pies into the top 8 and beyond.

By the way, Nick Daicos polled 38 Brownlow votes and didn’t win, all in his third season.

NORTH MELBOURNE

If not now, then when? The bookies have their over/under wins line at 5.5. Sorry, but if they don’t win at least 8, they should shut the joint down.

The list has changed plenty from an experience perspective, and that should make Clarko’s job a hell of a lot easier.

Sheezel is a star, Davies-Uniacke is Cripps like, Wardlaw delicate but great when fit and number 2 pick McKercher a star on the rise.

Caleb Daniel will help their cause, Jack Darling will help Larkey’s cause, Luke Parker is exactly what they need and 2024 number 2 pick Finn O’Sullivan the right draftee to make an immediate impact.

It’s 8+ wins for mine.

STAY TUNED FOR THE SNAKES!
