Globe-trotting mare Asfoora is on the hunt for more European Group 1 glory, with eyes on the Nunthorpe Stakes next week.
Following her dominant victory in the Group 1 King Charles, the Australian raider was just pipped on the line at her next start in the Group 2 King George Stakes. But there’s no doubt that Henry Dwyer’s star mare is still in good stead as she aims to add her next Group 1 to her CV.
“She galloped this morning and galloped really well. She pulled up well, and her wind was good.” Travelling groom Chenelle Ellis reported.
“We’re very happy, and she’s in a very good spot going into York.”
Asfoora’s and Ellis’ international raid could continue beyond York, with Dwyer still eyeing the Flying Five Stakes (Ireland), Prix de l’Abbaye (France), and the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (America) as possibilities down the line.
“To go to Ireland would be unreal, and to go to France and the US would be exactly the same,” Ellis said.
“Whichever way she goes, I’m so grateful for her. It’s been the trip of a lifetime.”
