AN OPEN SEASON IS THE BEST SEASON

The NBA has worked hard on creating an even competition and after dominant seasons by the Celtics and Nuggets in recent times, we head into Season 24/25 with open eyes in a very open looking competition.

The best evidence of an even competition can be found in the pre-season Futures market. Predictably the reigning champs are favourite to go back-to-back, but there’s a logjam of teams in the chasing back, with seven teams all a chance of collecting rings.

When looking at the three best chances outside of the Celtics, they have a common denominator, superstars on their rosters.

If the 76ers can keep their starting 5 on the court for the majority of the season look out, if OKC’s recent additions have the expected impact, look out and if Anthony Edwards continues his meteoric rise……look out!

Boston Celtics

The 3-point freaks will again be taking their chances from beyond the arc, so expect nothing to change there. Their 23/24 ‘clutch’ record of 6-0 is probably out of reach, but given their scoring prowess, nothing is out of scope.

Oklahoma City

They looked the most complete roster of the chasing pack, with the additions of Caruso and Hartenstein rounding out the 5, could be the difference between playoff pretenders and big dance contenders.

New York Knicks

Get set for some scoring action after the addition of Karl-Anthony Towns. The pairing of he and Brunson is mouth watering for Knicks fans, who had their season cruelled by injury.

Dallas Mavericks

Speaking of off-season acquisitions, Dallas won the trade wars when adding P.J Washington, Daniel Gafford and of course Klay Thompson, to give Doncic and Kyrie the help they need to take the next step.

We could go on forever about who will make a splash, the good thing is we only have two more sleeps to find out!
